Dragoon Base

Connecting the Troopers of Today with the Veterans of Yesterday.

Just got sent this picture and was wondering if anyone recognized the location and when.  I think it is in Germany, late 80's/early 90's and also looks like the guidons may be from 1-2 so I am guessing perhaps the Camp Gates area?

Your Time frame i think is right but the 2nd ACR i dont think it is it could be the 11 acr. and i checked the schools that are in the web and couldnt find a match for the Camp Gates area..

Apparently, Herr Pestalozzi was quite the educator. He started schools in Switzerland, Germany, and Austria. The first school was built on the grounds of his failed farm near Zurich . He named the place Neuhof.  There is a Nuehof just south of Fulda, but I can't make the connection. The closest school attributed to him with any chance of being in the 2 ACR AO  is west of Munich.   His legacy continues in worldwide education programs.  I sent the corporate HQ a copy of the jpg and asked them for some help.

Thanks guys,

Unfortunatly there is no caption or info that was provided by the guy that sent it to me and he is from Czech and speaks no english, so it makes things interesting.  All that being said, I am guessing that its 2ACR, it could easily be 11 ACR.

Definitely not 2/2 ACR. One of the guidons is clearly A Troop. Could be 1/11 ACR. Looks like maybe up around Phillipsthal- Vacha area that came under 1/11's area of responsibility.

Could be anywhere. Looks like they are wearing MILES gear. A Reforger perhaps?

Good catch on the MILES Gear. You can see the strobe light mounted on the Bradley 25MM and the guy in the far top right has the laser mounted on his rifle. I think the last Reforger was in fall of 1988 and 2 ACR was the OPFOR. I was in 3d Armored then and I seem to remember the Reforger playbox as being south of Kitziingen and west of Nurnburg.

Keep in mind there's a Bradley in the back ground so it should'nt be earlier than '87.To help narrow down your time frame.

Where's Waldo?

This was the third design of the 2d Cavalry DUI, worn from 1924-1931. The sharp points on the ends of the bottom scroll again called for a redesign.
