Connecting the Troopers of Today with the Veterans of Yesterday.
Found some of my old notes in response to somebody asking if two different listings for LTC Delaney as a squadron CO could be the same person. I think so - at least when I joined 3d Squadron in Nov 1962, Colonel Delaney was the CO and I was told he had been the CO before. Found an April 1955 Stars & Stripes article re 2nd Cav Advance Party moving in June to Fort Meade, and that LTC William M. Delaney, assisting the Regimental CO, is in charge of the Advance Party. So, it looks like he was a senior officer in the Regiment in 1955, perhaps the XO or a squadron CO. By the way, in researching his name, found another William M. Delaney, born in 1892, who volunteered for the 7th Cavalry in 1917 - a good Cavalry family!

Interesting read about the Battalion - always busy! Great seeing the faces from my time.
Thanks!
My pleasure, Ed. I've got the whole 1962-63 yearbook posted here:

There are 20 more pages for 3d Squadron.

This was the third design of the 2d Cavalry DUI, worn from 1924-1931. The sharp points on the ends of the bottom scroll again called for a redesign.
