So when did tops get added to patrol and all jeeps? would have been nice when I was on the border and all other times in the late 60s.
I was in I Troop from Jan 87 to Nov 89 and remember CPT Rogers, Arroyo, Buzbee, Cervantes, Otomura, Grasher, Wiggs, and many others both pictured or not. I really miss the people and what we endured together. I especially miss my driver PFC Parman. I was in Amberg on Dec 2021. The entire post became a nice housing area, and the mess hall was turned into a very good restaurant. During my visit many memories came flooding back to me,
My jeep (the Captain's jeep). I put over 21,000 miles on that thing in just a year's time driving between Amberg and the border camps and the training grounds and the TAC site and all over the "war plan" site (which was nowhere near Amberg ... the "war plan" at the time had us taking quite a long road march to the north) with several odd runs to Nurnburg and Bamberg and Coburg as well. The First Sergeant's jeep is on the left. The chow hall is in the background.

If you're interested in what life was like in the Regiment during its horse days, found
something last night you might like. It's a 1969 study about Fort Laramie Wyoming
in the 1870's and includes a lot of comments about the Regiment, mainly K Company - muster roll, daily calls, life in the barracks, equipment, furnishings, etc. The whole thing is online (and also ads to buy it). To see it, google: Fort
Laramie NHS, The Cavalry Barracks - Fort Laramie. www.nps.gov/...fola//
barracks-hfs/index.htm might also work.
