lmao......true dat.

And in the interests of full disclosure, I probably could find that place in my sleep from all the times I....ugh...ahem.....escorted other guys there.  Yeah, that's the ticket.

@Ron Lawrence you gave your own directions... directly across the street.  Appears without the regular traffic of GI's the brothel couldn't stay afloat...  Per google maps it's now the Singaporean Restaurant.  Even after all this time, diners there wonder why every dish smells of fish!  ( Lat./Long.:  50.315884/11.8931198)

p.s.

I see you were in Hawg Company.  That's my alma mater as well.  I was fortunate enough to have served under LTC Molina.  Most capable and best troop commander I ever had.

Yep....looks pretty close to what I remember, though not exactly how I recall it.  Course, mine would be 17 years after this one of yours came out, Robert...and the last time I saw mine was over 30 years ago....so you know what I'm saying.

We're not young fellas anymore and I'm even starting to wonder about some of the things I "remember" from the Good Ole' Days....

Thanks for posting yours, though - brings back good memories...even if half of them are embellished!

This is the Certificate I was given in June 1968 when I left the Squadron on my way to Vietnam. LTC Robert G Bond was the Squadron Commander at the time.  As luck would have it, he followed me to the same Unit in Vietnam, 2-1 Cavalry. As luck further would have it, I was gone when he arrived.

I'd appreciate that, Paul.

If memory serves, they were printed on very heavy cardstock and featured a horse mounted cavalryman with the usual beautiful letting written in calligraphy.  On the bottom would be your name and the years you served.  Not certain if there were several different versions of the Border Certificate or not.

Wouldn't that be interesting if we were somehow able to collect all the versions and scan them onto the web page for people to look at?

Anyway, please let me know if there is a way to buy a reproduction.  My office needs one!

Ron,
I have Border Certificates: 2d Squadron & Regiment from 1975 and 1st Squadron & Regiment from 1988. I don‘t know if they’re still available, but I can ask at the Reed Museum the next time I get over to Vilseck.

How many of you remember the old 2nd ACR Border Certificates we used to be issued at the end of our tours (at least we used to get them back in the mid 80's)?

I thought I saw somewhere on this site that you could get a replica if you wanted to pay for it.  Does anyone know if they're still available?

My ex got mine and destroyed it out of pure spite.
