Rest in peace, Sgt. Schoenbrun.
Hello Mark: While I do not recall Major M. Schoenbrun, I was stationed at Bindlach from Feb 1958 to Feb 1960, I do appreciate that you all out there are still making efforts to keep our remembrances alive through this site. I remember that I once painted that entire motor pool maintenance shop floor to earn a day off of my choice. Anyway, thank you all for the memories.
RIP old friend
The Passing of Major M. Schoenbrun brings me here today.
SGT Major Mike Schoenbrun
Long before i even new i would join the Military I new this man - father of a H.S. Buddy. I asked him if he was Nam Vet because Bindlach sounded like a Nam name and he had a banner hanging on his shop wall from the 2ACR. He told me the story of the Rock.
It would only be 6 years latter while studying the Unit History that I would discover that my own ancestor Gideon Pillow was a former commander it lead it from Vera Cruz to Mexico City.
Now Mike was neither a SGT MAJOR or Major, Just a rock solid NCO named Major - who had a helluva good time running the Maint Sec out of the old Messerschmidt Ammo Magazine. Which Ironically would be my office twenty years later that I ran the ADA Section out of while cross training as a Cavalry Officer.
If anyone remembers him feel free to comment and i'll pass it along to his son.
Just want say Happy Easter to all my Cav buddies. Have a great day.
I was not one of them.
Had a similar incidentt happen in Hq Co in1956 with a fraulein. There were 8 of us in room 7 or 8 on the first floor of Hq. Co , one night I got up to go to the john walked out to the hallway down to the restroom and as met by a naked fraulein coming out of the rest room. I said HI and she went on by and she went into the room next to ours . Several days later all hands went to the dispensary.
I had to saddle up Paco and he looked at me like WHHAAAT? I really need to ride more often...good videos

This was the third design of the 2d Cavalry DUI, worn from 1924-1931. The sharp points on the ends of the bottom scroll again called for a redesign.
