Hello everyone, my name is Wayde A. Collins. I was assigned to HHT in Nurnberg. #1 We awarded our spurs with a Order of Spurs certificate. Each of us were given chrome spurs. #2 I have copys of orders showing every unit that was allowed the Humanitarian Service Medal. I don't know how I got these orders. I don't know where they are right now, but I'm sure I can locate them again. Now when I was still in Nurnberg. I remember being told that we were not allowed. On our SouthwestAsia Ribbon we have 3 broneze stars. The third star being Operation Provide Comfort.

Thanks Mark - yes, I remember you. You keep in touch with CPT Hazard?

Hey Tom,

I have also heard about the Humanitarian Service Medal, but I don't believe we were ever awarded it.  No orders. No pin upon the breast. I don't know what to say about the combat spurs.  You were a good Cav Scout.  You should be able to wear them with pride!  Sorry to hear about the Thyroid cancer. I hope recovery has gone well for you.  If you don't remember who I am, I was Cpt Hazard's tank driver (killer 66). Toujours Pret!

Hard to believe its been 21 years.  So, I was going thru all my things (sadly alot has got lost over the years) and was wondering a couple things:

1) I heard we were authorized combat spurs.  Anyone have a copy of that?

2) I hear we were authorized the Humanitarian Service Ribbon - anyone have a copy of those orders?

I am also having short term memory issues - my wife says it is just old age.  I had Thyroid cancer in 2005 and my VA endocrinologist really thinks that DS caused it (between the depleted uranium and test drugs).

Lately I have been forgetting alot  of mostly short term stuff,, where did I put this or that. put things down and a few minutes later forget where you put it. To go along with that my fuse has gotten kinda short and things set me off quick and easy and go away just as quick. . Havent pinpointed any particular thing yet.Kinda frustrating

I stay tired. I also had an 'episode' ...I guess I'd call it a panic attack, right after I met a young man that I trained to shoot, when he came back for a visit after marine corps boot camp.
I stayed in the house for about a week. My brain was telling me there's nothing wrong but my body was telling me the fit is about to hit the shan..
I couldn't identify it and I didn't know wtf put me into battle reflex mode.
so yeah, you could say I have some 'issues' left over from my time with uncle sugar.
still, guys..keep in mind that we volunteered and it's now our mission to live and get free of this crap.
if anyone has any ideas that work, let me know!

Boys, was down at the Green Goose, in Bamburg, with a not-so-relaxed feeling for most of the evening. MP's showed up and instructed anyone in the 2/2 ACR to get your asses back to base and await further..... damn, are we gonna get busted for bein drunk? Guess it doesnt matter when you gotta get your shit together and prepare for deployment...better sober up REAL fast, and needless to say, we did!

I remember landing in Rome thinking how weird it was to be sitting on a commercial jet with an m16 in my hands. I should have taken a picture from the front of the plane cause it was a unique sight.

This was the third design of the 2d Cavalry DUI, worn from 1924-1931. The sharp points on the ends of the bottom scroll again called for a redesign.
