Arrived L Troop the Monday after Thanksgiving in 1974.  Left in May 1976.  Back in March of 78 and didn't leave until February 1981.  Arrived as a SPC4 left as an SSG.  Returned to the Regiment in February 1999 as the RCSM.  Always enjoyed going to the L Troop orderly room at Fort Polk to look at all the old Troop pictures that had somehow survived.  My days in L Troop and then as the RCSM were some of the best days of my entire career.  Went from Sheridans to M60A1 Rise Passive to M60A3 TTS.  Saw somebody on here who was an Infantryman when we still had an Infantry squad and a mortar in each Cav platoon.  Those were the good old days.  Combined Arms all the way to Platoon level.  Ran MISPIC with the infantry guys, Asst Gunner on a mortar, observer on scout 114's and a gunner and tank commander on tanks.  Gave me a well rounded education for the future.  Went back to Amberg this summer.  still a great town, but what they have done with the Pond is a shame.  Glad somebody opened an L Troop site.  I was in L Troop when things we not so good, but in the late 70's early 80's nobody could touch us.

Hi y'all, I was assigned to L Troop, 3rd Platoon, from September 1974 thru September 1977.  Great bunch of folks.  There are a bunch of others from L Troop who belong to other blogs.  Check out Amberg.

I recently took a Job at 3rd Army, so I really have no excuse to not make it to Gettysburg or to the Armor association conference

OK, you've got a full year to prep HH6, save some pfennigs, and pack your A bag.  Hope to see you all at the 2013 reunion in Gettysburg.
