SONG OF THE WEEK

NOT SO MUCH A SONG THIS WEEK AS A MEMORY JOG. HOW MANY OF YOU REMEMBER LISTENING TO EPISODES OF THIS SUPER HERO ON AMERICAN FORCES NETWORK RADIO IN THE 1960'S AND 1970'S?

James Burgos,

I, Too, learned to shoot with a .22lr single-shot rifle; my best friend had a bolt-action with a clip model. Mine was a cave-man gun; but, like yours, it was accurate. later in lie with older shooters, when we were out shootin' I could use a 4-square targer [ a target with 4 equal quadrants with a small square in the middle, I don't think they make 'em anymore] all day; just shoot a single square til I could not mark the hole, cause it'd beeen shot so much.

That bolt-action shoots wild the first two [Mossberg] shots generally, after that shoots thru the same hole [almost].

I am "breaking-in my New holster for The .45 long Colt, The Judge. The phamplet said break it in by wearing it, don't try any dressings or snow proof that stuff 'cause it usually ruins holsters and they consider it abuse and will not pay for a replacement.

It is snowing outside ...

Thanx men for all the good info on the 22's.  I have a coupla Marlin s/a 22, but I want bolt action to keep me primed for hunting.  Good practice in the off season.  Crappy weather here today, cold rain, slop.  Stay in today and read a western, gonna make some pasta and meat balls after while.

My first firearm was a Remington single shot bolt action rifle .  No magazine, a true single shot.  It was termed " a boys rifle " ,  and it fit me well at 12 years old.

That was the most accurate rifle I ever fired ,  with the Enflield #4 Mk 1  a close second.   It worked best with STANDARD VELOCITY .22 lr ammo .  "  Hi speed "  ammo  , like Stingers and Lightning ,  just gave too many flyers.  THE most accurate ammo was from Western Auto stores ,  labeled " Revelation " .

Many times , at the range ,  I was just tearing neat little holes in the targets X ring , and fellers with Savage Anchutz competition rifles just looked SO DISGUSTED  when they moved away , in sheer frustration .   Yep .  I was shooting the " boys rifle "  , with open metal sights .   Pissed off many a " serious "  target shooter .

Do you believe this bird house still has its own tree - in the fall the leaves turned and now its just waiting for the spring.  Looks like spring toady - 56 and sunny.

DAVE , for dem ants ,  try Home Defense Max .  You can get it at Home Depot or any good hardware store.  Get the large size with the pump and trigger sprayer.  Back in Kali , I found that it really WORKED .  Hosing off your concrete won't wash it off.   Spray it around your baseboards on the outside ,  and you can use it indoors too.  NO ODOR !   IT WORKS.   If you get some on yer hands,  wash it off FAST.   Strong Stuff.
