No Dave not a Graf cat, more like a engineer pvt sent to Fasa for guard duty, in February.   I remember one trooper said I can't make him go out side in this weather,,, I said I can't  sent the super numery out and hasked if he could make the first go out I sad sure  he beat him where he slept and then the first guard who refused went to his post,,  I called the staff duty officer and reported the incident and 2 hrs later as the miscreant was relieved from post,,, the MPS were waiting.... seems he had his last chance.   they sent him to old coleman. for 3 years i guess

I was told that the battle damage at RHQ as well as at Bindlach was left as it was as a reminder to Germany. That is as a caution against nationalism and NAZIs. It was by agreement that when we left Germany would make both parks or war monuments.

Harold, you can still see a lot of damage in that 1984 picture. I wonder when they finally fixed it?

Happy Birthday, Top!

I can remember the re-up speech he gave me. I was having a panic attack because I didn't know why he wanted to see me. I had a very short time left in the Army and I just wanted to get it over as easily as possible and go home. The encounter went something like this...

...Gettman, this is your re-up speech. Am I wasting my breath?

Yes, First Sergeant!

Get out of my office.

Hey Guys, Happy Birthday to all the birthday boys I missed these last two weeks.

Wayne, I am fighting with the VA that they do not want to give me a certain medicine and I bought a 30 day supply from Costco cost me close to $100.

I have to see them on the 12th and argue again because the Blood test shows it is working better than any drug they ever gave me.

Seems they try the cheapest drug 1st then work their way up.

RC when were you at Merrill?

I had a buddy in 58 named Fred Johnson  he stayed after I discharged in 3.59

He was Commo.  I don't remember if he was wires or decoding.  I was operating

Dave thanks for putting that tape on re Merrill

I took my wife there in 84 which is 25 yrs after I left.  She was shocked to how well I knew the old city and the Merrill neighborhood.

This is Merrill in 84
