Klik

A slang variant of Kilometer, first used by Artillery Division Marines in Vietnam.

The term originates from the sights of a Field Artillery gun, which were set to Kilometers, and when changed made a "Klik" sound. Eventually, this onomatopoeia, when combined with Kilometer, was turned into Military slang.

Currently, the term has fallen out of use with Artillery divisions, as their sighting systems no longer make clicking noises, but it has come to be used in almost every US Military service in some fashion or another, and has become a standard military term.

see: Click, and Klick.
"Confirmed NVA contacts, 30 Kliks out, Captain. Bracket those Charlie bastards, and Bring the Rain."

"We've got two Kliks to extract point Whiskey. We go double-time, and we might make it in time to catch a ride Stateside. Ooh-Rah."

Guys, Short for Kilometer  is click.  Is there a correct spelling for the word click.

We have to go 10 more 'clicks'

God Bless Rock & Roll

We lost a lot of great Rock & Roll Performers this past year.

But Rock and Roll will never die.

Went down to my buddy's house last night to celebrate Chuck's life. Couldn't really drink much because of a recent tooth extraction but thought I would have one short shot in his honor. Decided to look up what he liked to drink and have a shot of that. Found out he detested liquor, so I had a beer instead and called it good.

My mother worked at the hotel at the time.  Should'a mentioned that.

Mid '50's my mother got me a job as a service elevator operator  in a hotel in Paterson, NJ.  One day there was a Rock n Roll show at the Fabian Theater, 2 doors down.  Among those appearing was Chuck Berry, also staying at the hotel.  So one day I'm  doing my ups and downs and in comes Chuck Berry with a couple others, having to use the service elevator.  At the time I'm thinking he's sneaking in to avoid his fans but years later I figured it was because he couldn't use the main elevator.  Was a sign of the times.  What the hell did I know as a young teen?

Viewing the trooper laying on his bunk on main page. Just had a thought, never had a bed as good has that. I slept three years while in B-Troop on a cot that could be converted to a bunk-bed. It's what you get use to, having said that I glad those years are behind me.
