Where are you going John?

Some of our guys you know, went to the farm

You and I had our turn and we made it home

While others took to the world to roam

Age got most of us to medicate

You told me not to hesitate

They have my need and to help me stay

But still every step is in harms way

Then you took a journey with an occasional wait

Not to return, then suddenly! Meeting fate.

That bothered us all.  Did you take your bike?

With the fiddler playing taps and us saluting that final hike

Rest John Boyd.  Toujours Pret Our 2nd ACR Soldier

You know I had a rememberance last night, I talked on the phone with one of my old platoon sgt's from 57 years ago from 1960. Golly how time has flown, since I served with him.  It brought back some old times from my early times in the 2nd A/C.  Ned sent me his number.  I called him.  DAVE I may have an old roster he is going to check and see if he still has an old copy, sure do hope so.

John and his goat were both good sports.

Glad you could get past the security, Dennis, but I'm going to have to council a few rats before the day is over.

RIP John,

He found a belt buckle on E-Bay ( B-Troop ). I ask him if I could buy it from him and he agreed. He sent it to me and said I didn't have to pay him. I found out what he paid for it ( $ 30.00 ) and mailed it to him. It's the thought that counts. A little thing, but one of the reasons he will be missed on this site.

This was the third design of the 2d Cavalry DUI, worn from 1924-1931. The sharp points on the ends of the bottom scroll again called for a redesign.
