Nice story about Armstrong, never knew any of that. Hated that they took the memorial of Robert E Lee and others down, now if they want to throw Jackson's statue in the river, it want bother me one damm bit. He is the most detested person in the Cherokee Nation. Old Cherokee elders hated the man so much that they would not pack a twenty dollar bill in their wallet, would ask for two tens. I'm serious.

Frank, New Orleans is a city like none other. Jo and I were there 4 times. If John Boyd was still around he'd hitch a ride with you. You would have the luxury of not paying for a hotel room. GO!!!! If you weren't there pre-Katrina, you would have nothing to compare. GO!!!

Never been, Frank, and probably never will. Had some friends go down a couple times recently and they had a real good time.

The wife keeps talking of going to NOLA, but I am not too keen on the idea. The Mayor and City Council recently tore down 4 Confederate Memorial Monuments and Think I saw where they want to pull down the one of Andrew Jackson too.

Cathy and her friend visited NOLA, pre-Katrina. I think a lot has changed since then. Any comments or suggestions??

Other cultures like to preserve their past. We like to tear that crap down and replace it with a hamburger joint.

Dave, the idea was to preserve the culture of the area and it's sound.  I too had heard of it but it could have been when I was looking into the city prior to my trip there.  In subsequant trips to New Orleans I never heard them playing.  Things change.  Katrina didn't help matters.  They lost many residents who were active in the community.  My last trip was several years after Katrina and the changes were dramatic.

I remember watching him on TV when I was a kid and thinking how much he reminded me of a bullfrog. Always thought one of his cheeks might blowup sometime.

Harry, I've heard of Preservation Hall but no idea when or where.

This was the third design of the 2d Cavalry DUI, worn from 1924-1931. The sharp points on the ends of the bottom scroll again called for a redesign.
