I am reading FIASCO, by Thomas E. Ricks, on page 121, the 2nd ACR is mentioned, war planners wanted the  Regiment, at least a Squadron because the attaching force lacked depth.  I recall reading the Army Field Manual on THE RED ARMY at Camps Gates, one thing really stood out the Soviet Army believed in attack in depth, a somewhat sobering thought in the med 1960's.

14 October 2017, Saturday afternoon, Mansfield, MA, Canoe River Campground.

Making final preparations to roll South on Monday morning. One last trip to get Fuel topped off and Ice for the cooler, tomorrow. Pull in the 2 main slide outs, hook up the trailer to the truck.

On Monday, we'll get up (at O' Dark Thirty) grab some breakfast and coffee. Disconnect water, Sewer and Electric, roll in the bedroom slide and hit the road. Destination for Monday evening is Jonestown,PA.

Hope all are doing well, enjoy your evening, take care... ..

Sig, I've seen some listed for hundreds and even thousands of dollars at auctions. Depends on the condition and the fools bidding on it. I'll take the cheap one I can put in my pocket.

Shot of the lake here in the campground. Some color in the trees and the 3 Swans.

Hey Frank, they are a bit costly but you can get an original Stone Mountain half dollar that was minted in 1925 to raise funds for the project. I got one for mark Kieth at GovMint.com a couple years ago. The price is still $69.95.

Trouble is, the real GovMint can come take it away from you, make it worthless, or make it illegal to own.

This was the third design of the 2d Cavalry DUI, worn from 1924-1931. The sharp points on the ends of the bottom scroll again called for a redesign.
