There is no charge for the Veterans designation added to your license, but if you have a VA card you don't really need it. Unless, the next cop that asks for your license and sees your a vet who knows ? :=)

Dave, most men do not like going to the doctors period. What we don't know won't hurt us. Doc's are just gonna prescribe meds, and i have my own theory on that item.

I don't use the VA that much and will soon be enrolled in Medicare. I just don't like going to the doctor no matter who is paying for it.

Well, Shannon and Dave, I understand the principle in theory but my conscience guides me. I'm enrolled and if I ever have a need I'll use it.
Medicare has served me well to this point.

Harry, the more the VA is used, the more money it is allotted by congress. If we don't use it, we lose it.

Harry I have been told that even if you do not use the VA it is best to sign up, the more people that sign up the more money for the program altogether and that benefits all. Makes sense to me. I have always had decent benefits through work but that could change when I quit working.

Harold, I've been busy keeping track of all the peanuts in the gallery.
In NJ the DMV issued “Veteran” stickers for our licenses. I registered for VA benefits but never used them. There are too many vets that really need the help and I wouldn't feel right taking up their time. The county issed a veteran's ID card to use commercially. It's surprising how many stores don't advertise discounts but if you ask, they usually grant it.

dave, most of the time i use the va card, but when i'm fumbling thru my wallet for it my fingers stiffen so i just show them the 'v' on the drivers licence.

easier sometimes

Thanks Jim. I've got a VA card so it wouldn't be worth whatever ridiculous price they want for a license now. Maybe when it expires in 2019 if I'm still around.

This was the third design of the 2d Cavalry DUI, worn from 1924-1931. The sharp points on the ends of the bottom scroll again called for a redesign.
