You're welcome, Harry. Just glad to see you around.
I don't get notices anymore, so I just pop in when I have time. Gearing up for a trip to Idaho to lay Fred Ashley to rest. Heading out on the 18th and returning the 21st.
Pat Biddy, Bryan Denny (Association president), and Ryan Meyer (former Reed Museum executive director) will be there too. Also a detachment from the 2d Cavalry (from Fred's squadron) will be there and a retired general who served with the 2d Cav. Should be a pretty good gathering.
I was going to wear a suit and tie with my Stetson, but decided to go with WW II field gear instead. I have the exact type of wool lined overcoat (Mackinaw) Fred had on when his remains were discovered and will be wearing that. I think Pat Biddy is bringing one also. Also bringing a WW II Cavalry overseas cap with WW II 2d Cav crest to give the family.
Waaaay back there was a member here who was also a neighbor of Wayne. He had posted seeing Wayne and I think Wayne might have also mentioned it here. The member is no longer here. His name, ain't got a clue.
Harold, I haven't seen anything about this years scholarship contest yet.
They always have a specific topic for the essay that is revealed at the time of the contest.
I went through Wayne's daughter's Facebook page all the way back through 2017 and didn't find anything at all about Wayne.
Harold , I believe Tom is correct about R C being the one that gave him the hat.
Harold,I think it was RC Johnson. also from Texas.
Shannon, wasn't it you who gave that special 2nd ACR hat to him in his house?
Good Morning all
Thank you for looking into this situation Harry. Somebody should know something. I have researched his name in his area awhile back and could not come up with much. Keep us posted.
Dave, my grand daughter is applying to colleges now. Can you direct me to the form for scholarships. Her other Grandfather is a retired air force and he is also getting the papers for her from his outfit.
What's funny is that her Essay will be about Family in the Military.
I have contacted the Tarrant County Sheriff's Dept. in Fort Worth in an attempt to ascertain any information re: Wayne. His bio states he worked there, I'm guessing late 90's or so. I don't know where else to look. I'll keep you all posted if I hear anything.

This was the third design of the 2d Cavalry DUI, worn from 1924-1931. The sharp points on the ends of the bottom scroll again called for a redesign.
