Happy Birthday, Ronny. If you ever get internet service, you have a ton of catching up to do!

Good afternoon Troopers and Oldtimers ... ..

Hurricane Michael passed the Tampa area about 100+ miles to the West, so all we are getting is some of the Feeder Bands with rain showers and moderate winds. I am afraid the Florida Panhandle/Big Bend area was not so fortunate. Last I heard it was a CAT 4/5 with 150 mph winds. At least he's a fast mover, so won't hang around for long.

Hope that everyone else is doing well. Enjoy the day, take care ... ..

Toujours Pret!

Dave, she started her Senior year in High School, and has already sent out about a doz applications.  She is accepted at Florida Gold Coast Univ in or near Tampa.  She has applied to Florida State, University of Florida and University of Miami.

The applications for scholarships start when?

You're welcome, Harry. Just glad to see you around.

I don't get notices anymore, so I just pop in when I have time. Gearing up for a trip to Idaho to lay Fred Ashley to rest. Heading out on the 18th and returning the 21st.

Pat Biddy, Bryan Denny (Association president), and Ryan Meyer (former Reed Museum executive director) will be there too. Also a detachment from the 2d Cavalry (from Fred's squadron) will be there and a retired general who served with the 2d Cav. Should be a pretty good gathering.

I was going to wear a suit and tie with my Stetson, but decided to go with WW II field gear instead. I have the exact type of wool lined overcoat (Mackinaw) Fred had on when his remains were discovered and will be wearing that. I think Pat Biddy is bringing one also. Also bringing a WW II Cavalry overseas cap with WW II 2d Cav crest to give the family.

Waaaay back there was a member here who was also a neighbor of Wayne.  He had posted seeing Wayne and I think Wayne might have also mentioned it here. The member is no longer here.  His name, ain't got a clue.

Harold, I haven't seen anything about this years scholarship contest yet.

They always have a specific topic for the essay that is revealed at the time of the contest.

I went through Wayne's daughter's Facebook page all the way back through 2017 and didn't find anything at all about Wayne.

Harold , I believe Tom is correct about R C  being the one that gave him the hat.

This was the third design of the 2d Cavalry DUI, worn from 1924-1931. The sharp points on the ends of the bottom scroll again called for a redesign.
