Dave, that is exactly what we do now.  we go out for early dinner and happy hour

Shannon that is sad, there are Hurricanes on the East, Fires out west and Tornadoes in the center.

North Carolina is a great State and other than the outer banks it's relatively safe from natures wrath.  We wish him the best.

Is Sig effected also?

Thanks for the thoughts Harry. My Brother and his Family will be ok they are a family of faith, and they  will rebuild their lives but probably not in California. His coffee roasting business was really taking off in the area, he may try to rebuild the business around the area but he has been talking about moving to the Ashville North Carolina area and buying a house and expanding the coffee business. And as far as my wife and myself we just made a offer on a house in a sleepy little town of 500 people in  Saltillo TN. which is where Tennessee, Alabama and Mississippi come together the Tennessee river is about a mile away  I have a daughter son in law and three grand kids there. I think I am going to call it quits in the construction trades and find something else to do I will be 60 in February and getting tired of it,  I have been with my present company 27 years. 37 total years in the trades. California is a lost cause $4.00 gallon for Diesel fuel $900.00 a year registration fees for my wife's new ford F 150 I am still paying $400.00 a year for my 2000 Ford truck, and the fruits and nuts of this state voted Not to repeal the latest fuel and car registration tax hikes this state is turning into a ghetto 38 million people here now, crime is out of control, political correctness is stupid here and I truly believe this new Governor will finish destroying  this state. This state just continues to raise taxes and over regulate while the quality of life deteriorates here, and people and business continue to flee this state for more business friendly states. Sorry for the rant Harry I am just getting fed up and ready for a change. Stay well my friend.

The Old Timers Bar

Four old guys are walking down a street when they see a sign that reads " Old Timers Bar - ALL drinks 10 cents."

They look at each other and then go in, thinking this is too good to be true.....

The old bartender says in a voice that carries across the room, "Come on in and let me pour one for you! What'll it be, gentlemen?"

There's a fully stocked bar, so each of the men orders a martini.

In no time the bartender serves up four iced martinis shaken, not stirred and says, "That's 10 cents each, please."

The four guys stare at the bartender for a moment, then at each other. They can't believe their good luck. They pay the 40 cents, finish their martinis, and order another round.

Again, four excellent martinis are produced, with the bartender again saying, "That's 40 cents, please."

They pay 40 cents, but their curiosity gets the better of them. They've each had two martinis and haven't even spent a dollar yet.

Finally one of them says, "How can you afford to serve martinis as good as these for a dime apiece?"

"I'm a retired tailor from Phoenix," the bartender says, "and I always wanted to own a bar. Last year I hit the Lottery Jackpot for $125 million and decided to open this place. Every drink costs a dime. Wine, Liquor, beer it's all the same."

"Wow! That's some story!" one of the men says.

As the four of them sip their martinis, they can't help noticing seven other people at the end of the bar who don't have any drinks in front of them and haven't ordered anything the whole time they've been there.

Nodding at the seven at the end of the bar, one of the men ask the Bartender, "What's with them?"

The bartender says, "They're retired people from Florida. They're waiting for Happy Hour when drinks are half-price."

Shannon, I've been thinking about you with all fires out in California. So sorry to hear about your brother's misfortune.  I cannot comprehend what he and his family must be going through. Trump has been threatening to withhold funding for those areas because of poor management of resources.

The camp fire here in Northern California hit close to home, my brother and his family live in Magailia which is right next to Paradise, he lost both of his houses and his coffee business they made it out okay but only with the cloth they were wearing. Total devastation, the town of Paradise is gone, so far nine lives lost that they know of. It is a retirement community a lot of senior citizens live there. 100,000 acres burned so far with 20% containment more high winds are expected which will make fighting this fire more difficult. Lack of rain, poor forest  management ( not clearing the dead wood from the forest ) all contribute to these fires that start and then just explode and take off. I am hearing that a faulty power transformer may have been the cause of this fire.

Thanks guys, it was a real thrill.

November 10, 2018, at Epinal American Cemetery in Dinoze, France, there will be a ceremony at the Tablets of the Missing to place a rosette on the wall next to the name of Pfc Fred W. Ashley to denote he has been recovered.

John Walker from the 2d Cavalry Association has agreed to drive from his home in Switzerland to attend the ceremony and place the rosette on the wall.

Good afternoon Troopers and Oldtimers ... ..

Some Fall weather finally reached us here in Florida. The last two (2) mornings have been down into the mid to lower 50"s ...... but ..... the high temps still get into the 80"s.

Don't recall if I mentioned it, but the microwave also bit the dust on the trip. Right now, we have a "loaner" from one of Cathy's friends. So we're looking for a replacement unit. Might just buy a cheapie from Walmart, for the time being.

Halloween coming up this week (Wednesday) , since we are in a 55+ RV Park probably wont have any "Trick or Treaters".

HOOAH! to the troops bringing the WWII Cavalryman home to his family. Well Done Gentlemen!!

Hope everyone is doing well. Enjoy the Season, take care!

Toujours Pret!
