Just wanted to thank you old farts for chipping in to keep Dragoon Base going. Always nice to have a familiar place to hang your hat, even though you might find a rat in it when you pick it back up.

Frank, Jo and I went to Target this Tuesday looking for something else, but walked by the coffee aisle and saw they were having a sale.  Bought 4 bags.  Coincidence? I think not.  We hadn’t been to Target for some time.  I'll never understand how the cosmos work.

Good afternoon Troopers and OldTimers ... ..

Checking in to say hello to everyone. We are doing well, staying busy with family, Church and friends.

Had to buy a new light fixture for over the dinette. Bulbs had burned out in the one we had and in trying to get the globe off it slipped and broke.

Went to see the "Avengers: Endgame" movie with Cathy and my son. Great movie. 3 hours long.

Been thinking about taking part of my beard off and finally did it. Left the mustache and goatee in place.  Who dat lookin back at me in the mirror?

Any how, hope everyone is doing well. Harry, I still get that coffee at Target now and then.

Enjoy the day, take care ... ..

Hey, that's great Harold! Congratulations on the surgery and the flight!!!

Oh hell yes, there are lots of wives there. Even some sons, but they know better than to bring their daughters around. Hahahahaha!!!

It will be sometime next year when they start figuring out the program. One thing for sure is the unveiling of the 2d Dragoon memorial I have been gathering names for. They want to have a marble wall commemorating all our wars and campaigns, plus an electronic kiosk listing the profiles of all the soldiers who died serving the regiment.

At this years reunion some of the things we did were tours of the President Truman Library and Museum, WW I Museum, Fort Scott (1st Dragoons), and the Fort Scott National Cemetery where we laid a wreath. Also visited some Civil War battlefields. Had lunches at Fort Scott and the WW I museum. Informal gathering at the hotel during registration the first night with a wet bar. Pizza and beer gathering Friday after the tours. 2d Dragoon punch ceremony, banquet, auction, and raffle Saturday after the tours. Membership meeting Sunday morning before checkout. Plenty of casino and lounge time in between or after reunion activities. Awesome camaraderie!

At the end of the auction I was trying to draw attention to the fact that I desperately need names of our Cold War casualties from 2ACR so I jumped up and got the microphone from Frank Hurd. I urged anyone with information to please contact me, then I took off my 2d Cavalry cuff links and put them up for auction. They had belonged to 2ACR Regimental Sergeant Major Clifford Wasson (1964-67), the last RSM before the Army started the Command Sergeant Major rank and we had our first RCSM Sam Dornick.

Anyway, a bidding war starts between Maj. Matt Simon, who was sitting next to me during the banquet, and the president of the association, Col. (R) Bryan Denny. Matt finally won the bid at $375, then turns around and gives me the cuff links back. Then Bryan comes up and whispers in my ear I'd better never take them off again. Seems they both had the same idea and were bidding to give them back to me. It was all good though because all the money we made from the reunion was going toward the 2d Dragoon memorial at Ft. Benning.

This was the third design of the 2d Cavalry DUI, worn from 1924-1931. The sharp points on the ends of the bottom scroll again called for a redesign.
