SONG OF THE WEEK

Figured it was about time I changed the song of the day. RIP LEON REDBONE.

They put the first half of our Memorial Day on youtube

But here it is.  I don't understand why they cut the other part out

Frank, the first soldier that I put in to be memorialized was:

The Following Names will be Memorialized:

Jonathan Farmer earned a
Purple Heart and three Bronze
Star medals and served six
combat tours overseas. KIA
January 2019 in Syria by a
suicide bomber. Hi lived in
Palm Beach Gardens and leaves
behind a wife and children.

No family available for the funeral so the veterans in Jupiter and surrounding area created the funeral and I put it in our community celebration of their lives.

Dave,

My power and wi-fi were down when I found your note, via e-mail. Sent you the info via Messenger.

Her name is Annette M Kirk, President, Gold Star Mothers, Inc, Department of FL-PR

I believe that her Son was with HHT 3rd Sqdn 2d CR.

Frank, what was her name? We lost around 20 during that 2010-11 OEF deployment.

Sure wouldn't want that done to my Stetson, Harold, but enjoyed seeing them getting it done to theirs. Didn't care much for the song that went with it though. Just turn down the sound.

Congratulations on the Memorial Day program. Sounds like it was a big hit!

Good afternoon Troopers and Oldtimers ... ..

On Sunday, Cathy and I attended a Memorial Day Service at the Veterans Memorial Park, here in Tampa, FL. I wore my Stetson and 2nd Cav Polo Shirt.  The service was very nice, well done and solemn. A rifle volley and Taps closed the event.

As it turned out, the Keynote Speaker, Brig. Gen Johnnie Johnson, from CentCom at MacDill AFB, was also a graduate of the same High School that I am. So I wanted to say hello to him. While I was waiting, one of the Gold Star Mothers pointed at my shirt and said, "That was my son's unit!" A pleasant surprise for both of us.  He was with the 3rd Squadron, in Afghanistan in 2010, when he was KIA. We got to talking about the Regiment, its History, the time I spent with the Regiment. We showed each other some pictures. Gave her a hug and condolences for her loss. Her husband took a picture of us. Both of them are veterans also. She gave us one of her Cards. She is the President of the Gold Star Mothers in FL. I felt like it was meant for me to be there that day.

Hope everyone had a great weekend.

Toujours Pret.

The Memorial Day Program was standing ovation.

I felt like a movie star.  I couldn't walk in the lobby without someone stopping me.

We had over 400 people this time.  It was the most we ever had.
