Harold, it torques me off that his bio has nothing about his 2d Cav service. I know several people who served with him in Bindlach in C Troop and HHT, as the C Troop XO and squadron motor officer.

They had a small private ceremony for me in that same room when the Reed Museum was rededicated in July 2011. My name is the first one in the museum guestbook.

In 1986 Pompeo graduated first in his class from the United States Military Academy at West Point. He majored in Engineering Management. From 1986 to 1991 Pompeo served in the US Army as an Armor Officer with the West Germany based 2nd Squadron 7th Cavalry in the 4th Infantry Division

Pompeo was inducted into the Honorary Squadron of 2d Dragoons at the Reed Museum during his visit. There is a video here at Stars & Stripes and a photo of Pompeo in the back of a Stryker.

This is not a political comment. I found it reassuring somehow that Mike Pompeo couldn't resist a trip to the old haunts of the 2ACR. Like all of us - we like to revisit the scene of the finest moment in our lives to draw strength in troubling times.

Does anyone know any of the details of his visit? I don't think he can fit thru a hatch anymore  - but did he visit the simulators we spent so much time in?

Where in the hell has the time gone? Cannot believe today 30 years ago the Berlin wall came down, which basically put the 2nd Cav.out of a business. And then I realize also this month 20 Nov.1976 was 43 years ago when a young outstanding trooper name Sgt. Charles W Price 22 years old died in a:car accident, traveling on the back road on a freezing night from the rock to Bayreuth loss control of his car and hit a tree. Next month on Dec.3 he would have been 65 years old. Take care Chuck, and leave a little space for me in Fiddlers Green

Good Wednesday Afternoon Brother Troopers and Oldtimers ... ..

Checking in to say hello and read the discussions. The weather, here in Thonotosassa, FL is finally beginning to moderate. Still in the mid to upper 80s during the day but dipping into the lower 70s at night. Looks like we have a cool front, this weekend, that may bring in some upper 50s.

HAROLD: looks like you had a great time on the Honor Flight trip to DC. Nice pictures.  Job well done. Toujours Pret!

Went to the Doctor's office for my 6 month Check up, a week or so ago. Everything is within parameters. All knee, hip and shoulder joints are mine and working fine. Need to work on getting the weight back down towards 210 lb.

Can't believe that 74 years of age, I take no BP meds, no cholesterol meds, and just OTC Pain medicines as needed. I do have a Testosterone shot every 3 weeks.

Hope that everyone is doing all right. Take care, Live the Example.

Toujours Pret!!
