I am in Tampa now. In March, I will be in the Port Charlotte area to watch my grand daughter in a Lacrosse Tournament. Dates are around March 12 to the 16th. Looking for an RV park to stay in for that period.

herald.i went over on the boat in 58. was inducted on 7/22/57 and discharged on 7 /22/59. two years to the day.hof and kronach were my border stations and filled in a couple times at gates, liked hof except for the airforce across the street.to go out on pass we had to wear a jacket and tie and be back by midnight.we would go to the gausthaous across the street and around 1130 the airforce guys would start coming in looking like scumbags , laughing and saying thanks for wineing and dining the girls and we'll take over now.really sucked.

#1 you are older than me.  I was 79 Nov 16.  I think you're older than Sig also

#2 Were you on the advance party in '57 or did you gyro by boat in 58?

#3. What month were you discharged and were you ever in HOF Germany

The PBI airport is touching Southern Blvd which takes you West to lake 'O'

and there is a road from the bottom of lake 'O' that drops you off in Punta Gorda

We used to stay in the holiday inn in the 80's to visit my son and in one if the hurricanes it blew the whole hotel into the gulf

herald, yes I am in port charlotte just a few miles up from where the rays stadium is. been here for twenty years originally from Middlesex cty. nj. born and raised in a small town of south river.got married and moved to Monroe twp nj about 10 miles from forsgate country club. do have a c troop member in Sarasota and one in Bradenton. don't have a clue about where that southern blvd. or lake is that you mentioned.but anyhow at 81 years of age and god willing it would be nice to meet somewhere for lunch.having been in the same c troop company from basic to discharge we've had annual reunions for almost 50 years including ncos and officers that ranged in practally all the eastern states and also california and Oregon.we are all one big but shrinking family. in about half of our last 25 reunions it seems all the wives were having a better time than us guys.lol. any how if it works out I would love to meet somewhere for lunch.

Toujours Pret all of you fine troopers of the 2nd Armored Cavalry Regiment.

I landed in Germany before the Big Bopper, Richie Valance, and Buddy Holly died in their plane crash.

I was home

before Bobby Darin was known

Even the 4 Seasons came later,

One of my best friends was J. Siegel of the Tokens and when I came home from Germany he did not know me.  He was singing as the lead for 'Darin and the Oxfords, and then took Neil Sedaka's place in the Tokens.

What else happened ?

I originally enlisted to run away from it all and when I came back it all hit me at once.

Interesting subject.  Anyone care to share?

Neil Diamond graduated from my High School in 1958 .  Harvey Keitel also a Lincoln High Alumni, (I don't think he finished high school) Dated my girlfriend,  When the 2nd AC was supposed to go to Lebanon in '58 they sent a Marine Troop Ship instead and Harvey was with them.  When I came home I met with Harvey and he told me he was seeing my girl.

Gene, are you near PT Charlotte or Punta Gorda? My son used to live there but that would be great Gene. I used to cut accross by Southern Blvd and go under around the lake and it would leave me by Pt Charlotte.
Gene wasn't there another one that lived by Tampa or Sarasota?
Maybe we can pull this off if everyone would have the same time off.

This was the third design of the 2d Cavalry DUI, worn from 1924-1931. The sharp points on the ends of the bottom scroll again called for a redesign.
