I remember the L Troop beer machine on the first floor, in an alcove near the troop offices. When I was just assigned to L Troop, I was told to clean the floor in the alcove which was a b#$%h since the tiles were grooved. A guy came down and handed me a broom and all was well. Until we started moving around I always kept a bunch of quarters to buy beer, .75 cents think...
I agree. THE best thing was the Next Year, by then my future Ex wife had joined me, and the Expression on HER Face as I explained what was about to happen and Fraus started coming in? PRICELESS
At least it was the ladies, Mark, and not the gents!
I had a corner apartment in the old Rathaus in Bad Berneck. Spent most of my 1st summer in the field and that fall, there came a knock on the ally window and it was the Gal from Guast Haus across the ally, who annouced she was glad I was home and I had to open my window Door style for her to pass me my Beer. That was just grand. Then she propped what was obviously a custom made set of steps up to my window and came in. Locals were getting more interesting by the minute. then she put a sucker hook on my window with an arrow pointing in that said Damen? THIS was how I found out that my special bathroom with one hot and one cold toilet served as the overflow restroom for the local fest.
We had beer machines in Bindlach too, but they were empty more often than not.

This was the third design of the 2d Cavalry DUI, worn from 1924-1931. The sharp points on the ends of the bottom scroll again called for a redesign.
