Sincere condolences to you and your family for the loss of your father, Stephanie. I'm sorry I never got to meet him in person, but I shared many years of conversations on the two Dragoon Base websites with your dad.
Bruce, what a find! The photos in the yearbook made my Christmas. This is a really great site, just what the doctor ordered. What I would give to go back in time. I see on you page you are a professor. Good for you. When I was at Merrill German and Rick Hobson were my roommates and they both had college degrees. I joined the Army after graduating from Grady Vocational High School in Coney Island. I realized I was not going to set the world on fire with that background. Both German and Hobson got me into reading english lit. and increasing my vocabulary. I mustered out at Ft. Hamilton and started studying for the upcomiing police exam. 225,000 people took the test. I wound up number 53 on the list thanks in part to my army buddies. After I got on the force Pres. Nixon signed into law the Law Enforcement Education Program. You could attend any college and your tutition was payed for by the Justice Dept. I got a B.S. from St. Francis College and made it up to Lt. I did some teaching for John Jay College in the career development program. Great part time job. Funny how our lives are shaped. Glad your in the oldtimers group. Talk to you soon buddy.
Toujours Pret Bruce,
Welcome to the new DragoonBase, the new Base has plenty of newer features, lots of sub-groups,(ie,F-Trp,Amberg,Medics,etc.) and links for 2nd Cav News and History.
Robb Russell has posted some tips for navigating the site (ie,photos, links, ect) in the Forum.
If you need any help, you can contact Robb, or myself, or just yell out, another member may be able to help you.
And our only wish, ‘Keep it clean’, use our Real names/with Pictures(pix from back in the day, work best for searching for Brothers, but any picture will do.), and that you tell all your friends about the new DragoonBase.
