Name a few buddies you served with that you would like to find.
Warga Bakich, Don Burley, Stephen Haberberger, Matt Covell , Mike Lemke, Jesse Doris, David Blanton, Jeff Evans, Sgt Coleman, Sgt Meeker, Joe Eusanio, Sgt Sammy Burton Tim Porter, I know I forgot a few.. and all the officers :P
Hey (SPC) Whelan, I was one of "all the officers" :) I don't know if you remember, but I took command of Nomad Troop after we returned to GE. I can't say that it was a very enjoyable time under the command structure then but I have wonderful memories of the soldiers and pilots that did their best to make me look good. Just in case I didn't say it enough... THANK YOU.
Brian Haddle (Then CPT and retired USAR MAJ)
Please call me Bill. I'm sure you guys talked about the officers behind their backs, mentioned us by our first names in conversation and even called us bad names when out of range. Plus its been many years since we were in the Army.
Sounds like you have kept busy over the years. I am impressed with your talent to restore such musical instruments. Not that I don't think you couldn't do it, but if I had to guess what you would have done after you got out, it would have been a rep for a gun manufacturer. Bet it is rewarding to start with an old instrument and using your hands restore it again and see the smile of the owner when they picked it up and played it again. Do you play either of those instruments.
I have seen Zane Cooley and Craig Nida (scout pilot) since getting out. Not sure if you knew Craig or not. Really nice guy, loved to run. We thought he was nuts. My wife has a Facebook account and through Zane's accoount I found Rob Baumburger (scout pilot/Lt). He is doing well.
Looking through your list of folks you'd like to find again brings back lots of memories about each of them. Numerous times I have told my wife/friends that I've never worked anywhere that felt more like family than when we were in Germany. Lots of friendships and experiences that are priceless. One of my favorite memories surfaces each year and that was the "Mr. Keller's enlisted guys only Christmas lunch".
If your travels ever bring you to the orlando area let me know in advance. Would like to see you and if we ever get up there to the 'great white north' I'll get in touch with you.
