"This was still going on in 75 and 76, we had a NCO that openly wore a KKK belt buckle. Seems a lot of  people in at that time went in the Army to avoid jail sentences. Racial tensions had not let up much, maybe there was not the blatent racism…"

Tell us a little about your cav days.
Initially I was assigned to an M-114, then as a gunner on an M551 and finally an M551 Track Commander.
Tell us a little about you now.
Retired from the US Forest Service as a Inter Regional Hotshot Crew Superintendent after 32 years service. Performed as a Fire Crew Captain for CalFire running a crew of 17 inmates for an additional 6 years and then retired. For the last 8 years I have served as a Fire Lookout on the Lava Beds National Monument and Modoc National Forest in NE California.
