Greetings. I was writing about a time when an M60 tank squashed a citizens' Volkswagen big time.  The road marches went thru the city and towns with tanks and M114 scouts and assorted other devices (like an actual portable bridge).  The mission was to deliver the tanks and 114's and 577's and jeeps and trucks of all kinds to grafenvere? was a road  march of substantial proportions, and we sometimes would come right back. sometimes we would set up there and do tank gunnery and other fun…See More

First Squadron Second Armored Cavalry, HQ, Communications.
Where were you stationed?
We were stationed at Bayreuth, (the Rock) up on the hill from the town of Bindlach (if my spelling remains correct after all these years) and we had M60's and 114's, I had a M577 with the radios and room to stand up in.
What MOS or job description did you have?
My job was 31B, radio mechanic.
What was your rank/title?
At the end Spec 5, supposedly equivalent to a buck sergeant.
What years were you assigned to the 2nd Cavalry?
sep 69 till july 71
Tell us a little about your cav days.
Wow. A little? Those times in Germany all along the Border they were telling us we were the line of defense, with our ground radar and our 45 auto and banded ammunition. On the Border, at the radar sites, is the coldest I have ever in my life been. The snot in your nose froze. The water on your eyes froze. Yet if the commies were to bust through at that point, hey, I had my 1911. I could write a book

Tell us a little about you now.
Now I am a bitter retired American seeing things turn to sh*t around him. I (and a whole lot of other veterans) see our sacrifice as for nothing, wasted.
Name a few buddies you served with that you would like to find.
