I was in HQ troop from Aug '71 - Mar '73. I spent about the 1st 9 months in the Support platoon driving a 5 ton for sergeant Henderson then I was moved into the Red Eye platoon which was my actual MOS until I left. I had a nickname of Mumbles. They were talking about the berets being issued about the time I got out but it must have been after March of '73 because I didn't get one. I think I'd like to have one but since I never wore it while on duty it wouldn't mean the same.
Thank you brother, 58 is a long time. I wish I had a two week dose of 20 y/o so I could have done that 1100 roadmarch. The cold air in your face at top my M113 ambulance was the time of of great pride. I wish I could do it all over again.
