I'm Mendez from Bindlach. I know what happened to Top Collins. His wife left him short after the accident. He lost his left leg in the accident in Graf. He made Command Sgt Major with his buddy the other First Seargent the one whos wife was named Cris. At least that's what we called her. He retired and took a job as Director of the Gym in Graf.
Top Collins well the rest is history. I knew both of them pretty good. My mentors. I
I left Bindlach in 85. I was a 94Bravo the clerk in the Mess hall.
I also wondered what happened to him. He was my platoon SGT. in 78-79 in 1st. Platoon A-Troop. Pretty tough character when he was a SFC. He was from Texas, and his real name was Jimmy Collins, but they nicknamed him Dust Off, but shortened to Dusty. He served with the 5th. Special Forces Group in Viet Nam I believe.
