Good to see you, Jim. About time you showed up.

I filled out the application for TSA pre-check a couple weeks ago and have an appointment June 21 in Fife to pay and get printed. Thanks for the heads-up. The lines aren't getting any shorter and I want to be ready for the reunion next April in Williamsburg. Maybe I'll see you at the airport.

Well, as close as they could determine the heater over-heated and caught fire, cooking off ammo and fuel. Made for a helluva big bang. The crew had rigged an M-113 heater in it and it burned REAL hot.

Two casualties: SFC Brown (TC's hatch) slightly burned on exposed skin and returned to duty shortly after; SSG Brow (driver's compartment) severely burned and med-evac'd to Texas burn center. Heard years later he had survived.

Yes, "Ranger Pete" Schoomaker was my first C Troop CO. Tom Molino took over from him. Tom later went on to command 2d Squadron, then the Regiment when it was out here at Ft Lewis from 1992-93. Hooked up with Tom in Vilseck 2008 for a cold bier.

Not likely you will see me in Seattle unless it's at the VA hospital, which is VERY rare. Too much traffic, too many people. Tacoma is bad enough, but been here all my life so it's hard to change.

Welcome to Dragoon Base, neighbor.

I was in C Troop, 1974-75. You probably left the Rock before we blew up Sheridan C-15 on July 25, 1974. I got to visit the sight (Inzendorf) last July on the 37th anniversary.

My dad was the battalion motor officer on the Rock 1953-55 when they were battalions instead of squadrons. We lived across the street from the Bayreuth Officers Club, just across the park from the Wagner Opera House.

Always Ready, sir!

Jim,

Good to see you on the site!  I think you'll find more than a few "old" guys from more than a few years ago who you will recognize (well maybe not by picture).
