Hey Joe ! Machinist & toolmakers trade is a dying breed. I learned mine in High school, went to an all boys Vocational & Technical High school, the girls Vo Tech was three blocks up the road. Had 4 yrs. of Machine shop & Tooling, 6 months of drafting & metalurgy. When I left the military in 1960 got a job driving a truck for a local machine shop that manufactured Mold Bases, the frames that hold the dies in plastic and die cast molding machines, 6 month later I was in the shop running a radial drill. Ran all the manual machines, then A pratt & whitney N/C drill. about times the N/C was oudated by computers I got a job running the tool crib, sharpening all tools, ordering tools when needed, filing out purchase reqs for parts for jobs. Then got into the wiring of the top haf of the molds for the necessery parts to heat the tops so the molten plastic or die cast metal would flow into the cavities. Made all the altered parts needed. And before I retired I was setting the hight and depth of the tools and loading the buckets on the computerized milling machines, at that time all the operators were button pushers. Retired in 02 with 37 years with the Company. Sure enjoyed my work and was pretty good at what I did. Still have my tool boxes and some tools in my shed out back. Now I fish, golf, am active at church and volunteer with the forestry dept.as a volunteer lookout host in a tower about 40 miles from where I live. Gonna be 77 in March, pretty healthy, and don't look my age. I've been blessed with many grandkids that I enjoy.

It's real easy to leave any of the groups. Just log into Dragoon Base and go to the group you want to leave. Above the little photos of the group members it will say "Leave Group". Click on that and you are out of the group.

You can also stay in a group and just turn off mail notifications so you no longer receive mailings from that group.

Hope this helps.

Well Joe, that one particular group, "Politics, Religion, Fistfights, and Tomfoolery", was created just for the purpose of ranting about things we didn't want on the other groups. Gives a guy a place to get things off his chest, which we all need to do now and then.

Glad to hear all is well over in New (Neu) Ulm. Stay busy and stay young while you still can. I've been down more than up the last year with back problems, and I don't see it getting any better any time soon. Still think I can do the things I did when I was a kid, but the body keeps reminding me in an unforgiving way that those days are over.

Hey Joe or should I say Joey, I sure do remember you. You had that tank that went off the bridge and basically feel apart but then you had to put it back together. Next Gunnery it was the top tank in the Troop with you as its TC. Damn those were the days. Let me know how you are doing and what. I got out with 10years servise as a SFC, would have stayed for 20 but got on the wrong side of a CSM and guess who won. Hope to hear back from you will check this site more often.  Paul

Howz it Joe.
Well bro I no what you mean. I’ve been reading the news papers and watching the news. But you what I still say that when we were there guarding that boarder and stationed at the “ Da Rock” We were “Bad” I mean Combat ready Bad. We were highly motivated, highly educated, trained to the max and then some. And we looked good doing it. Joe you no I was glad we were in the same platoon. Cause I new that you could shot move and communicate and I new that I had some one to cover my recon ass. And I’m very proud that we were on the same trace team on the Bundesgrenzschutz at camp Gates.
Joe you well always be the best tanker I ever new. “Scouts Out”. Sam.
