Fresh out of AIT at Fort Gordon, this young Commo puke find out at Frankfurt that he has been assigned to the Cavalry ....???? Aren't those the guys with the horses in the western movies? I was assigned to HHT 3/2 ACR, Pond Barracks, Amberg FRG. The assigned me to the FAR in the 3 Shop under SGM Beam (a massive chain smoker), Sgt Kelbel, It Blaine then Later Capt Carlin. I remember working with Beer and Elam and was friend with Tanakain K Troop. There was It Prusiecki our ChemO, Chief Bone and the Bukowski the Pilots. I never did my actual MOS but I learned to drive tracks, five quarter tons and 5 toms, learned a whole lot about Arty and as a blast. Always Ready, Sir...Tojour Pret!

Spent 12 years in the Army active, guard and reserve. Went to the 1st Gulf War, worked in Corrections and private investigations,have been married happily for 21 years and have 2 daughters and Currently buy loans for Ford Motor Credit.

9th Colonel of the Regiment David R. Clendenin 29 Oct 1888 – 2 Apr 1891



This was the third design of the 2d Cavalry DUI, worn from 1924-1931. The sharp points on the ends of the bottom scroll again called for a redesign.
