GREAT - Merrell Barracks was the place to be. Border duty was with the 2/2 usually and I always seemed to end up at Camp Harris Coburg. After going to Regt Border Ops, things got routine somewhat. Sgt NG, SSG Byrd, 1`st Sgt Patton, SSG Dan Anderson, SSG Rednour, SFC Pabon, Rad the mailman, Sgt Cherry, Sp4 John Karl, Sp4 Roger Castillo, were a few. Sure would like to hear from some of them.
Tell us a little about you now.
Retired Army after the 1st Desert Storm. Now work in law enforcement in Florida. Was last back at Merrell Barracks in 1988. Trying to plan a trip in the future.
Name a few buddies you served with that you would like to find.
See above. Also Cpt. Packer, Cpt. Parrish who were HHT CO's Msg Majestic, Msg McAvenue, Richie Pomerance, SFC Jody Booker

Rick , I'm sorry to hear about Jody. He was always the "ROCK" of the ROC.When you do see him give him my best and you can pass along my email address to him and Dave. firstname.lastname@example.org I will get back to him ASAP. I'll drop Barb a note a little later tonight. We had some good times back then at the ROC. Well I've gotta go check the perimeter (some things never change). Catch ya later , Slim
Rick, you were close, they called me "Slim". That nickname does not fit anymore. I had a stroke about 6 years ago and my weight ballooned from 155 to 240. I finally got down to 190 last month, and my goal is 170 by Christmas. Up until the stroke I had spent the last18 years setting up tradeshow and convention exhibits. Now I"m head of security and assistant manager for a motel and youth hostel here in Las Vegas. Working with the kids keeps me young and keeping the barbarians ( Pimps, HO's and drug dealers) away from the gates, keeps me on my toes. It's almost time for shift change so I've got to go. Oh yeah, LT Anderson, now LTC (ret) is on the Dragoon Net. Catch you later, Bob (Slim) Lane
Rick, I spent over 22 years in the Army. I went to airborne school right after I left Germany and eventually earned my Master wings. I changed from Signal to AG after 8 yrs. I married another paratrooper in 1982. I had our son at the age of 43. He has 3 jumps since I didn't know I was expecting! I now live in Georgetown, Texas north of Austin. and go to school. Do you remember the other people who were there with us? Great to hear from you, Barb
Rick: It's good to see I'm not the only ROC NCO still alive and kicking. I'm currently living in Las Vegas NV, where I'm Chief of Security and Night Manager for a youth hostel. I had a series of strokes several years ago and had to give up 18 years as a Teamster in the tradeshow industry. I enjoy my current line of work, I'm not getting rich but considering the economy I really can't complain. SSG C.R. (Bob) Lane.
