"Hi Mike, happy to see you had a good career. I know how you felt at 22. I was 21 in 1/11 ACR when I became the track commander on the squadron commander’s APC and put in charge of maintenance for the S-3 sections vehicles. By the time I had…"
"Hello sir. I was on the Christensen Barracks Facebook page and accidentally clicked on your name. You had posted about attending an opera in Paris. That reminded me of a conversation we had 30 years ago about the Wagner festival in Bayreuth. I was a…"
Well thank you Tim. It has been a long time and a lifetime away. But I still remember my time fondly (aand scare my parishioners occasionaly). But I am the same person in many ways. How are you and what are you up to?
Time Riley I remember you. Ich war in D company, when Ich left in 1989, Ich lived in Michigan and have relatives here in Michigan and in Bayreuth. Live in the U.S. about 4 to 5 month a year and in Bayreuth the rest. Born in Michigan, lived in Bayreuth most of mein life. Remember when I went to basic training in Fort Knox and was told Ich war going to Deutschland to serve wow and the bus Amberg left we were goin up the mountain to Bindlach to the Rock. U remember Eric Herman he war a good friend.and from Ohio. REFORGER of 1988 war hot. Ich remember Harry Mills, Robert Klink, Kevin Daugherty, Mike Nicholson.
Tim, thanks for the reply. The reason I asked is when I arrived to B Troop in late '71, the troop XO's name was 1lt. Robert Young. As I understand he returned some years later as SCO. So it has to be the same guy. I recall he had a real intense stare if he so desired. Both him and the Troop CO. Capt. Barry, sported huge handlebar moustaches. Capt. Barry is a friend on my page as well. He also was SCO. in the 80's. mike
Hey Tim we have a few things in common even though the dates are different. I was in 3d Platoon Delta from 82-84 before being transferred to the S3 and I was Delta's Master Gunner. I went through M1 NETT with either Bravo or Charlie troop, (for the life of me I can't remember which one but Sam Pearson was the First Sergeant of whichever troop it was). A lot of fun in those old days . Good luck to you.
Toujours Pret Tim,
