Cold War Service Medal

Cold War Veterans like myself have been denied recognition, respect, and remembrance for too long. It is past time for our country to say Thank You with a simple Cold War Service Medal. We should no longer be ignored.

That's why I signed a petition to Rep. Dan Kildee (MI-5), Sen. Debbie Stabenow (MI-1), and Sen. Gary Peters (MI-2), which says:

"Millions of veterans served during the Cold War and never received recognition or any type of award. Tell Congress to pass…

I've tried 37 different photos trying to change my profile photo. All I get is "There was an error uploading your photo: Please try again. If you keep seeing this error, try another photo." Anyone have any ideas?

Basic Training Photograph

I was assigned to Company A, 17th Bn, 5th Bde (A-17-5), USAARMC, Fort Knox, Kentucky, August 30, 1974 to October 29, 1974.

My home was completely destroyed by one of the 13 tornadoes that struck the Oklahoma City area on May 20, 2011. I lost my uniforms, medals, and a number of military awards, documents, and photos. I have replaced a number of the items lost, but would sure like to have some of the photos replaced.

- today is my birthday, I´m 28 now. Gettin´ old. Hubby laughed and that made me cry. I…

M-24 Light Tank

During my time in Amberg I did a little research on the origin of our "Mighty Mike". The folks at Cadillac sent the photos shown on my Amberg album. The pictures are not our M-66 Jr. but great pictures anyway.

I have honored his life and legacy all of my life but…

The following is a poem of sorts, written by John McGowen. McGowen was an Electronics Technician Chief Petty Officer (Ret), with 21 years of active service. He currently resides in Michigan.

I am really astounded by the simple power of this piece. In just a few paragraphs, it conveys decades of government abuse and an unending need to speak up. It is profound and a great read. It is also a charge, a charge for us to get involved, and make our voices heard before it's too…

Dear Grandpa,

a few days ago I made my best friend the happiest woman on this world. I found her GI-Dad. He really flipped out, he cried and thanked me million times. He also searched his daughter but didn´t find her. Until me and my nose came along, he had no hope to find her after 27 years. What can I say except the fact that I was "adopted", too? I´m her biest friend, we are like siblings and she was always a part of my familiy, called my parents mom and dad - and I now got a "second mom and dad", just…

Colonels of the Regiment

9th Colonel of the Regiment David R. Clendenin 29 Oct 1888 – 2 Apr 1891

This was the third design of the 2d Cavalry DUI, worn from 1924-1931. The sharp points on the ends of the bottom scroll again called for a redesign.
