Hoping for a sitrep from John M Walker


  It's been 12 years + since we talked last. I'm a map maker now at Vandenberg AFB. Big contrast between life in the CAV and the USAF. I work with several young USAF SSGs (E-5s) that enjoy hearing my stories about your remarkable military career and our experiences in the CAV. A Holiday Message to All the Good Men and Women of Dragoon Base.

At no time in human history has it been so important to understand what we mean when we use the word God.  All of us old timers remember a time when the world was a much better place to live.  Many of us experienced the sixties where love and peace became a reality and it seemed like hope was not going to fail us.  Today, it is totally different - it seems to me that hope is only realized by those who love God.

As I look back upon my life it brings me to tears, tears of joy as well as tears of sorrow. Remembering my time in the US Army, especially my time in Amberg, brings me to a bit of sadness because of all that I missed. Colonels of the Regiment

9th Colonel of the Regiment David R. Clendenin 29 Oct 1888 – 2 Apr 1891



This was the third design of the 2d Cavalry DUI, worn from 1924-1931. The sharp points on the ends of the bottom scroll again called for a redesign.
