Israel's History is a lesson for all Nations: Have we abandoned God?

A commentary worth reading by Ben Stein:

Apparently the White House referred to Christmas Trees as Holiday Trees for the first time this year, which prompted CBS presenter, Ben Stein, to present this piece which I would like to share with you.

The following was written by Ben Stein and recited by him on CBS Sunday Morning Commentary.

My confession:

I am a Jew, and every single one of my ancestors was…

Christmas 2012 - with love and kindness

A Christmas Story for the Children of the World

It was about one in the morning on Christmas Day when little Billy made his way from his bedroom, where he was suppose to be sleeping, to the living room where a Christmas Tree was standing with all his presents below it. With scotch tape in his hand, Billy's plan was to carefully unwrap all his presents to make sure he got what he asked for and then carefully re-wrap them so his parents would never know what he had…

No Place for Anonymity

No Place for Anonymity

Dragoon Base has become for me an important link to a group of wonderful men and women who have served their Country in the Second Armored Calvary – the same unit I was in during the Vietnam War. The time, effort and energy that goes into designing and maintaining this site is a credit to all those involved. It is educational, informative and entertaining as we all reveal…

Proverbs 1:7

One of my favorite movies is Forest Gump and , as in great literature, there is always a quote or a line that adds meaning to what is being conveyed. The lines that I will always…

A Holiday Message to All the Good Men and Women of Dragoon Base.

At no time in human history has it been so important to understand what we mean when we use the word God.  All of us old timers remember a time when the world was a much better place to live.  Many of us experienced the sixties where love and peace became a reality and it seemed like hope was not going to fail us.  Today, it is totally different - it seems to me that hope is only realized by those who love God.

No matter if you are a Christian, Jew, Islam, Budist, Hindu or of…

As I look back upon my life it brings me to tears, tears of joy as well as tears of sorrow. Remembering my time in the US Army, especially my time in Amberg, brings me to a bit of sadness because of all that I missed. Here I was surrounded by such a wonderful and diverse group of men I really never got to know. In my immature, selfish, drug induced state I missed a whole lifetime. Hopefully, I have learned in life that people (relationships), no matter how obtuse they can be, are the most…

Colonels of the Regiment

9th Colonel of the Regiment David R. Clendenin 29 Oct 1888 – 2 Apr 1891

This was the third design of the 2d Cavalry DUI, worn from 1924-1931. The sharp points on the ends of the bottom scroll again called for a redesign.
