Dragoon Base

Connecting the Troopers of Today with the Veterans of Yesterday.

Of course we are all familiar with movies like "The Manchurian Candidate," "Dr. Strange Love," and the "Green Berets." However, has there ever been a Hollywood movie that accurately depicts the experience of American soldiers in Germany after World War Two? Let's not count Elvis Presley in "G.I. Blues," (although the music was great). In 2003, there was a movie called "Buffalo Soldiers." However, this movie had nothing to do with the Cav - it portrayed a military subcultue of drug addicts and thieves. Isn't time that Hollywood got it right?

They died with their boots on. A 1941 movie starring Errol Flynn. He was asked what he wanted to do after recieving his commision from West Point. He said, he wanted to be sent to the 2cav, the toughest regiment in the army! He got the right. Toujours Pret.

Not involved with the "Cold War" so much, but have you all seen "Home Of The Brave"? Hits real close to home as to what service members for generations have, and "STILL" go through!!! Great flick, just stick with it.

Mr. Matas:

Have you seen "Home Of The Brave"??? Great movie about the shit that happens in combat/war and the shit that we all deal with if we make it home. Stick with it and pay attention to the smallest details. You'll all love this film!!!

What I'd really like to see is a remake of the 1960 Walt Disney movie Miracle of the White Stallions, only this time tell the true story and give the 2nd Cavalry the credit instead of Patton.

This was the third design of the 2d Cavalry DUI, worn from 1924-1931. The sharp points on the ends of the bottom scroll again called for a redesign.
