Dragoon Base

Connecting the Troopers of Today with the Veterans of Yesterday.

During my time in Amberg I did a little research on the origin of our "Mighty Mike". The folks at Cadillac sent the photos shown on my Amberg album. The pictures are not our M-66 Jr. but great pictures anyway.

Does anyone know what happened to Mighty Mike ?

Yes I did. When I first arrived in Amberg (1969) the K Troop 1SG was a WWII vet who served with the 2d Cav. Said he was lucky when his first M-24 was destroyed by a German anti-tank gun.

Did you know the 2d Cavalry Group was the first unit to get the M-24 in Europe during WW II?

This was the third design of the 2d Cavalry DUI, worn from 1924-1931. The sharp points on the ends of the bottom scroll again called for a redesign.
