Connecting the Troopers of Today with the Veterans of Yesterday.
I received the sad news with a phone call from retired SGM Raymond Anderson, that CSM (Ret) Ned Devereaux our former First Sergeant at C Troop 1/2 ACR passed away on March 4, 2021.
TOP Ned was 81 years old. He was one of the best NCOs that I served with in 22 years. He served with the 1st and 3rd Squadrons 2d ACR and was a Vietnam combat wounded veteran with the 11th ACR, his last assignment was as Command Sergeant Major 3rd Sqdn. 11th ACR. After his retirement he served for more than 7 years as the Editor of "The Thoroughbred" newsletter of the 2d Cavalry Association. Our sympathies to Ms. Doris his loyal wife and companion of 55 years and children and grandchildren.
CSM (Ret) Edmund "Ned) Lincoln Devereaux III was buried with full military honors on March 18, 2021 at the Willamette National Cemetery, Mount Scott, Oregon.

That's the last photo I took of Ned. We would meet occasionally in Tacoma for breakfast, but I never took pictures then. He and I were working on a couple projects together for the Armor and Cavalry Museum.
That' a great photo of the late CSM (Ret) Ned Devereaux, he will be missed by those that we known him. RIP TOP, and thank you for your ever friendship, loyalty to the military, Armor/Cavalry community and Nation - The Pure Leader of Soldiers.
Thank you Dave for posting!!

This was the third design of the 2d Cavalry DUI, worn from 1924-1931. The sharp points on the ends of the bottom scroll again called for a redesign.
