John remember me I was your Platoon Sgt back in 1975-77 time frame we had Lt Dempsey and then Lt Lute as platoon leaders. Spent a lot of time on the boarder and training I think in 1975 we spent 277 days in the field.
Corky and I worked together while I was in LaGrande. McCray and Wade McDougal were at the 41st Bde HQs when I was there just before I retired. Used to see Rees and Mike Caldwell at Mil Dept. Ron Kinsley works over at Rilea.
Hi John, I just dropped by to tell you that Charles Webb posted the Troop picture from '75. I enlarged it on my screen in order to read names. I remembered about six or so. The one that got me was Sgt. Paul Emond. I think he was an E-2 or -3 when I left and are those Jump wings on his uniform? Mike
Hell yes, I knew Mike Oates! By the time he got to the Rock I was an oldtimer in the Troop lol. I am going to go through my pictures to see if I have any of him. We roomed together for quite a while. The corner room directly across from the latrine. I think when I left he was a Spec 5. He had more than a few scary Nam stories to tell. We had to break him of the habit of diving to the floor when they fired the little cannon salute when the flag came down at nite. Mike
Good to hear about the ankle, John. Must you undergo any sort of rehab or therapy? Talk about coincidence, a co-worker of mine broke 2 bones in her ankle at her home on Jan 19. She had surgery, 2 plates and 10 screws were installed. She will be off work at least 3 weeks according to the grapevine at work. Which one is you in the new picture? Mike
Hello John, Don't look here very often so missed your comment - Yeah. Fred and I were plt ldrs in E Trp together and then he went to S1 and I went to H Co and then command of G Trp. I've seen him several times since - he's still the state AG - third tour for him. Has lunch with him several months ago and see him once in a while at funerals - I ride with the Patriot Guard and he comes to all the Oregon Guard funerals that he can make . . . sorry times for those kids. Great to hear from you - lots of good memories here . . .
Hi John, Your right it's been a long time. Been here close to Nezperce in the ag business for thirty years. Was pretty excited when I stumbled on this site. Glad to see some of the pictures and names from then. Get a chance drop by or give me a call in the Nezperce phonebook.
Merry Christmas;
Mike
John I vaguely remember someone named Foster in B troop. I didn't have him on my relief though. I had guys named Carney, Murphy, Johnson, Hall, and Gove.

Hi John, if you found him, tell him to get his ass on here. Your old platoon leader is here also, Warren Wagner? Take care. mk

That's probably where dad was with Co.F, 161st Inf, only the armory would have been fairly new then.

This was the third design of the 2d Cavalry DUI, worn from 1924-1931. The sharp points on the ends of the bottom scroll again called for a redesign.
