Hi Ronny small World, I was there a few years after you were there. Got there via Ft. Benning and NCO ( shake and bake academy ) same MOS 11C primary and 11B secondary, that did not last long as day one I was told that the infantry section was already full and to get ready to be a scout, but in essence I was for a while in the infantry track for the platoon, same with mortar track, M 114 scout track section, even later as gunner then TC on an M551 Sheridan. They also had me attend the explosives demolitions and landmine warfare school at Graffenwohr. Any way, nice to hear from another trooper, one who actually did and lived pretty much the exact life at "The Rock"

Where did you do boot camp and infantry AIT? I did mine at Ft Ord California ( now closed )

In regards to the reunion we went on the tours to Jamestown and Yorktown and a few other places we had two bus loads full. And the Hotel was walking distance to colonial Williamsburg. All of the tours were great and very informative and we had good guides that knew their history well, It would have been great if you could have made it I always enjoy learning history from those that know it well. Jamestown and Yorktown are great to see and learn about It, is hard to imagine the hardships it took to survive those places back in their day. I look forward to seeing you at the next reunion in Kansas, that is not to far from your area. We need to study up on some history from that area I am sure that there is plenty of it. I always wanted to go to Dodge city and have a cold beer at the Long branch saloon. LOL.

The Rock was really a great place to be. My quarters was 100m from the troop. Every thing was in walking distance.

Ronny, I also took that train ride with my grandson. It is interesting and scenic. Sorry to take so long to respond. I'll have to check the site more. We'll have to have coffee sometime.

This was the third design of the 2d Cavalry DUI, worn from 1924-1931. The sharp points on the ends of the bottom scroll again called for a redesign.
