Rodney, thanks for the invite. I was at Pond in 1965-66, third floor at the top of the stairs turn right down two doors for my room. Spent most of my time at Camp Gates. Everyone at Gates thought the medics had it soooo easy, until bad things happened. Who did they call!
One quick story. Sitting in the dispensary one night, the door opens in comes a guy with the top of his head shaved. You know like the monks in the middle ages. On the top is a band-aid. He was at Camp Pitman the night before, went downtown and had a little problem with a lady of the night. She hit him on the head with her high heel shoe. Back at camp the medics had been drinking a little to much tea. So they couldn't get the band-aid to stick to his hair. He came to us to see if he was alright. Lucky for him we were out of tea.

Hello Rodney, glad to hear from another Pond Barracks tropper. The picture is of the building facing the parade grounds. When I was there the right side of HHT had a little parking area and a wash rack. The far side (left)had the little sandwich shack going into the motor pool. That was back in 69-71.Back then the Medics wre on the 3RD floor with the cooks.Redeye was on the first floor (sleeping ) with our Redeye room in the basement.I was in the barracks for awhile then I went home on leave to get married and my wife came back with me.We lived for awhile downtown and in the town of Gialoh. It was down the street as you would walk out pass the front gate on your left.like behind the motor pool.My wife and I went back in 2001&2002.Next year might be another Germany vacation.
Toujours Pret James,
Welcome to the new DragoonBase, the new Base has plenty of newer features, lots of sub-groups,(ie,F-Trp,Amberg,Medics,etc.) and links for 2nd Cav News and History.
Robb Russell has posted some tips for navigating the site (ie,photos, links, ect) in the Forum.
Make sure you stop by and read the latest Tacoma Dave ‘Triva Quiz’, learn some 2nd Cav history and you can even win a kool prize.
If you need any help, you can contact Robb, or any of the 5 admins listed at the top of the page, or just yell out, another member may be able to help you.
And our only wish, ‘Keep it clean’, use our Real names/with Pictures(pix from back in the day, work best for searching for Brothers, but any picture will do).
And that you please tell all your friends about the new DragoonBase.
Thanks again for joining Dragoon Base, and for your service to our great country,
Jesse Kelley

Wishing you many more, from all of us at DragoonBase!!!
I posted notices for the Texas Chapter meeting here at Dragoon Base on the events calendar, and on all the 2d Cavalry Association websites.
Hope this helps.
By the way, I live in Tacoma, Washington so it would be a long drive for me. Thanks for the invite anyway.
Toujours Pret!
Is this an official sanctioned 2d Cavalry Association chapter you are starting?
If not, would you like to start one?

This was the third design of the 2d Cavalry DUI, worn from 1924-1931. The sharp points on the ends of the bottom scroll again called for a redesign.
