Hey Jerry, been a long time again since anybody's heard from you. Hope you, Mike and your family's are all doing ok. Drop me or Butch a line sometime so we know you're ok. Hoping to retire in two yrs and do some traveling then in which case I'll be passing thru you're neck of the world. Take care buddy, have a great Thanksgiving and tell Mike hi for me.
remember Himi, Robert Hildner from Detroit City? He's doing fine and still living outside of Detroit in a suburb called Berkley. I gave him the 2nd ACR website info and he's definitely interested in coming to the reunion. His cell is 248-797-8438.
Hello Jerry, tryed to call CJ, spoke with his wife he hasn't return my call yet. Went to a meeting last night, the first of its kind, Grass roots, LibertyLoyalists.com in Adrian Missouri. You were right I'm not afraid of conflict. Missourians are getting concerned how Washington is acting. We know someday we are going to have to stand our ground or lose the nation. Its sad but true. Our Veterans are marching on the Missouri State Capital Sept 14th. They Elitist political nuckle heads aren't listening. Give me a call.
Hey Jerry, must be working hard? Haven't called CJ's number yet. Been spending alot of time with the granddaughters. Two of them that live near by are starting school, so we have been doing stuff with them. Go to my pro-file and get my phone number and give me a call. Butch
Sorry it took so long to get back to you. Thanks for checking out my site. We have a unique business model in that we are 35 or so independent contractors partnered together to share the expenses of the lot and we own our own cars. That helps the customers by letting them talk to the owner instead of some salesman that is trying to make a living off commission waiting on them and then getting with a sales manager to get any information at all. Sincee we only have to feed ourselves and not a hundred employees it is cheaper for the buyer and we can make a good living providing a great service. I love it and the customers do too. I sell cars all over the United States and have sold them in Germany, Iceland, and Italy. I love it. When we were in Germany, I would have never envisioned selling cars for a living. I don't remember the "Grey Ghost", but I have rolled a Jeep or two and a couple of snowmobiles in Nevada and Utah!!! Mike Gibson just got back from the Berg and he visited Schwarzenfeld and went to the location where the apartment was. He took some pics too. If you get to Memphis, look me up would love to see you guys and meet your wife. I know she is a saint. Thanks for being a great friend to me in the Berg. I wouldn't have made it without you!
If I jacked up a Captain, I'm sure he had it coming!! I don't remember the incident, but it doesn't seem to far out of character for me. I heard that they tore that house down after we left. Too bad, I had some great times there. I don't remember the E-6's name , but I do remember several guys got killed including an entire crew at Graf when a Sheridan pulled off the firing line and fired point blank into the Sheridan next to it. It was pretty bad. Those are dangerous jobs but I had a lot of fun there. I'm still in Memphis, Tn. and I've been in the Car business since 1979. Call me at 901-240-8738 and we will catch up some time. I'd love to talk to you. I saw Jim Little in Vegas a couple of years ago. You never know when I might be in your lovely State! I like Tahoe too!
Jerry do you remember meeting up in Chicago at the airport? We were headed overseas and the airline was on strike. Had a hard time making connecting flights.I also remember you bought my beret. I payed you at the airport but you didn't want to take any money, always remembered that. We also got good at the dapp. Almost caused a fight in front of the mess hall with our special dapp. Your bro Butch
Well, I don't know about Hoenfelds. I spent a lot of time in tents waiting on tracks or parts. We shared a house off post that was behind the Gasthaus in Eglsee. We also spent some wild nights in Schwarzenfeld. I do love Thin Lizzie. I have some good old Bahnhof pictures of me you and Himi Hildner. Come on Old timer you can remember!!!!!
Geography I guess wasn't my strong point. Yeah, Two Harbors is not in Michigian which is probably why Icouldn'tfind him. It's great that you were able to find him. I'll see what I can do, but this is a very busy week for me at work. I might have to wait till next week sometime.
Jerry, Gow is the one who taught me (us) a little about life. He always told me to keep notes while in the military which helped out alot when I was in the Air Force, (Saved my rump).Do you guys remember a guy who use to to say Nunya all the time? Can't remember his name, because thats what I called him. Nam was a bad ass little dude. When I went to Korea saw alot of the rock Army, They are some what crazy.Never spoke much of anything (about when we was all together) until recently. The only one I sometimes spoke with was Denny. Sometime didn't know if really happened or I imagined it. Not until I started reading alot of the stories did stuff come back to me. So much went on, something knew everyday. Croker was that guys name with the knife wound. I just remember alot of blood and the smell, he had also penetrated his bowl area. Do you remember the bad car accident near the post where the German guy lost his eyes? He went through the front window. we were coming back from the Apartment headed to post at night. If not you, then it was T. They hit the light post head on. I'm glad I was a little shit faced.
The Greek wife and I only stayed married a short time. had a daughter who looks like her. I raised her, The ex-wife (Greek) went back to Athens. She took daughter back illegally, took two years with the help of the American government to get her back. Daughter now lives in Oklahoma doing well. I didn't let any dust settle under my feet. Had a an exciting life until I retired from the Air Force. Even after I retired Istayed busy with new adventures. I had forgot about the videos I had until one of my daughters boyfriend, said he would put it on youtube. Got a call from retired Col Wilson. I sent him a copy. He wanted it for the new Cav museum in Vilseck. Believe it or not, last Saturday after 35 years I received a border certificate signed by him. You guys are small part of history now. Funny how things come full circle if we live long enough. Butch
Yeah, Thomas Gowl. He was from "Two-Harbors" Michigan. I liked Tom, he made me laugh a lot with is dry whimsical humor. He was one of the last of the draftees if you remember. I did try on a couple of occasions to locate him, but nothing came up. Randy Skinner too, no luck trying to find him either. Looked for Carter J. Lusher for a while, nothing but dead-ends with him. I'm really glad that I (we, since Talbert did all the leg work) found you guys. I often thought about the both of you over the years, wondering what ever happened, if everything was okay, and laugh to myself when I think about the time the two of you guys went home on leave and shot that big mountain cat and brought the pictures back to show us from the local newspaper. Wasn't it the biggest one at the time ever taken in the state? It's been over thirty years; we all need to stay in touch with each other this next thirty years better than we did the first thirty years, that's for sure!
Man its been a long time since you and I talked. I remember calling you once or twice while Vickie and I lived in Charlotte, NC and then we moved to the Norfolk/Virginia Beach area around 1980 and I lost touch with everyone. Jack Nelson, Mikes track driver, and I found each other about 10 years ago and have stayed in touch. he's the one that pointed me to this site. Then Denny and I found each other a year or so later. And now I'm glad we are all finding each other again and really hope you guys can make it to the reunion this November. So much to say I don't know where to start. I'm glad life turned out well for you and you found a good person to travel the ups and downs of life with and sounds like you both have a great family to be very proud of. The M4 thing, its a Daniel Defense model that my sons gave me for fathers day last year while they were both deployed....they knew I was looking for one and boy was I shocked. You should see it now, surefire tactical light, bipod gangster grip, Vickers two point tactical sling, EOTech sight and about 1500 rds of 5.56 ready to go, the main part of my bug out kit. LOL...I'm ready for the zombies. I do like guns and love to go the range, just don't get the time often enough. Vickie enjoys shooting as well so that's a plus and she has her own Glock 17 which she is quite good at. She's a part-time role player for Blackwater so she gets plenty of opportunity to play with SEAL's, Army, Navy, Police SWAT, US Marshals, etc. as they come thru there for training. One of the gun shows is coming by this weekend and I am going to see if I can get a good deal on a Benelli SuperNova Tactical with ghost ring sights, no pistol grip. Again great to find you, Mike, Butch, Jack, Denny, Fred and all the rest and I hope everyone can make it to the reunion this year. BTW, I think I found CJ on facebook today, just waiting to hear back.
Hello Jerry, Just back from Church. Is it as warm there as it is here? Its great to know your alive and well, I often speak of you to my wife. Had a good conversation with her last night while falling to sleep about how we went to Germany together. Glad to hear about your family, sounds great. Wish you could go the reunion, I fiqured I would go, might not be able to make another 35 years. I'm lucky to have made it past 35 years old. My phone number is on my info give me call if you want.
You found me brother. I sure have missed you. been trying to find you for awhile. I can't believe so many all of us have suddenly started communicating again. Denny Jones is who called me. I have been able to keep in touch with him for years or should I say he found me. Sorry I lost touch with you. Alot happened in my life, not all good but that shouldn't be an excuse. I'm sorry. spent another almost10 years overseas, that had some to do with it. Seen alot of the world, some not so great other places ok. 23 countrys I think I've visited, some for fun, some not. Doggone am glad you and Mike are ok.We went over there together, You remember running into each other in Chicago at the airport on the way to Germany? That was a thousand years ago. Even though you and I and T and a few of the others were a little on the wild side we did ok. Have a video out of most of us. Just got called by the old SQD. commander Col. Bill Wilson of Amberg, I sent him a copy, they are putting it in the CAV museum in Vilseck. All you guys are a part of history now he said. Denny had a photo, that I down loaded and turn into what looks like a painting of k-15 stuck in the mud with k-12 in background. It came out great. Do you still hunt? Do you have grandkids? I've got six granddaughters. Hard to believe isn't. No hair on my head either. I shave what I have. I'm glad T found Mike. Got to go for now, but will be back. Alot to remember. You were all brothers to me.
