The deer stayed nocturnal all hunting season, one friend killed a 10 pt. That was the only good deer I heard about. Yeah man, let me know about your new hunting in Pa. I know I have to practice more, but it's a pain with my 308 because it's a featherlite, but I do have a Marlin 30-30 lever action that is fun to shoot, but I have it sighted in with the Hornady leverevalution rounds, which are expensive.

I arrived on the Rock and Delta June 1978. Captain Skinner was top shelf in my opinion as was D Co and the 2nd Cav.

Looking forward to it again. Just bought a lever action Marlin 30-30, put a good scope on it. First deer rifle I ever had was a 30-30 bolt action - Revalation- from Sears. I bought it in a pawn shop, killed a mountain of deer with it. RC

At 11:58am on June 6, 2011, R C Johnson said…: Warren, the longest shot I would take with the 308 is 100 yrds. Here in east Tx. it is so heavily timbered, 100 yds is about max. I really love my Win., wanted one all my life, thought it was the finest, prettiest rifle made. The barrel heats up too soon for me, because I like to shoot a lot. I am still happy with it. I like the pics of the 578 and 88 VTR's, thats what I did, tank recovery. Getting ready for a family reunion, and huntin season, thanks for the comment back. Where do you hunt?
