I LEFT THE REGIMENT ABOUT 8 FEBRUARY 1956 AND WAS SEPARATED FROM ACTIVE SERVICE THEN.. I MIGHT HAVE A YEAR BOOK FROM ABOUT THAT PERIOD; I'LL LOOK FOR IT AND RESPOND BACK IF IT HELPS. M H POWELL
Never doubted you for a minute, Harold. I strayed across the border once myself, but colonels are prone to make a grander spectacle. I just hopped out of the jeep to take a leak, and happened to step across the border.
No Harold, it's not down. It seems to be cyclical at times. They'll be a lot of chatter, and suddendly it will go quiet for awhile. One thing to keep in mind is that a lot of these men have jobs and other responsibilities.
Harold,
I think it's a great idea, but you can do that through the Oldtimers, or start another group for that particular topic. We are very open to sharing past experiences on Oldtimers.
I was F co. 2nd Bn. 2A/C hq.in Bamberg border station Coberg. I guess you were regt.hq. since the line co's didn't have rad. ops. I was in Nuernberg a few times.
Harold,
Take a walk over to the Oldtimers. There's one or two from the 50’s here but most of us came after you. I got there in '62. Would be pleased to have you join our merry little group here. First bier is on the house.

Welcome to Dragoon Base. Not many around here from the Gyroscope era, but there are a few if you dig around enough. My dad was with 1st Battalion in Bindlach/Bayreuth 1953-55. He transferred out and we stayed in Germany when the Regiment was getting ready to leave.

This was the third design of the 2d Cavalry DUI, worn from 1924-1931. The sharp points on the ends of the bottom scroll again called for a redesign.
