Do you talk to anybody else from our unit?
I'm doing great. Retired 6 years ago and am enjoying life with my wife of 42 yes and 9 grandkids. What have you been up to?
Done deal, George. Thanks.
If you can send me the link I can attach it for you.
Hi George,
I served 1968-1970 with a recon batallion in Cheb (Eger) as a radio operator. My fellow warriors and me spent most time operating a monitor station nr. Libá, close to the border line. Our station was quite a simple camp consisting of a radio truck and a caravan with four bunks. We milked the radio communication of your guys as far as from Grafenwöhr-Vilseck training area but regularly that of 2nd ACR who patrolled along the border line. From their reports we learned many interesting things, e.g. what our PS were doing on duty. There activities were sometimes out of rule so we must have kept those reports secret. We were also wondering why ACR patrols appointed an assembly point, upon completing the patrol mission, by the church in Hohenberg a. Eger quite often. Were they so religious ? The explanation came soon. There was a clearcut near our station from which we had a good view over Hohenberg. So we took binoculars and watched to see if some Jeeps appeared by the church. After a while we could see some, moreover we found out there was a pub opposite the church.
Best regards

This was the third design of the 2d Cavalry DUI, worn from 1924-1931. The sharp points on the ends of the bottom scroll again called for a redesign.
