Interesting article Tom. Do you know when (year) and where this was written? If I had to guess I'd say around 1970. I was there in 73

The article was written in 1971. It talks about Gen. Polk retiring earlier that Spring. He retired April 1, 1971.

This was the third design of the 2d Cavalry DUI, worn from 1924-1931. The sharp points on the ends of the bottom scroll again called for a redesign.
