Tell us a little about your cav days.
Germany was a magical place to a wide eyed 20 year old. From the 600 year old buildings, cobblestone streets, city surrounded by a moat, fantastic food and beer to the totally different language, life was exciting and a challenge.
Like most soldiers I was homesick however my wife came to Germany sometime during spring 1971. Lived off post just north of Amburg. I bought a Karmann Ghia 1500S (rustbucket) and was able to explore a little bit however I wish that I would have had more time and money to do more. We used to go dancing and drinking out of town a little ways in a town that had steel mills , can't remember the name. We also used to shop for stereo equipment I believe in Vilseck - do you remember Teac and Akia reel to reel tapes? Spent a lot of time in Grafenwohr (tank gunnery) and Hohenfels (manuvers) and on the border at Camp May (border patrol).
Tell us a little about you now.
Retired 1 year ago from the city of Gresham in Oregon
Phone number (Optional).

Welcome to Dragoon Base, Dennis. Make yourself at home.

You mentioned Vilseck....the 2d Cavalry has been home based there since 2006.

2d DRAGOONS

This was the third design of the 2d Cavalry DUI, worn from 1924-1931. The sharp points on the ends of the bottom scroll again called for a redesign.
