What unit(s) did you serve in with the 2d Cavalry?: 3/2 ACR, M Company (tanks) and HQ Troop (Redeye missles)

What MOS or job description did you have?: Tank driver at first, then transfered into Redeye as a Training NCO

Tell us a little about your cav days.: Germany was a magical place to a wide eyed 20 year old. From the 600 year old buildings, cobblestone streets, city surrounded by a moat, fantastic food and beer to the totally different language, life was exciting and a challenge.
Like most soldiers I was homesick however my wife came to Germany sometime during spring 1971. Lived off post just north of Amburg. I bought a Karmann Ghia 1500S (rustbucket) and was able to explore a little bit however I wish that I would have had more time and money to do more. We used to go dancing and drinking out of town a little ways in a town that had steel mills , can't remember the name. We also used to shop for stereo equipment I believe in Vilseck - do you remember Teac and Akia reel to reel tapes? Spent a lot of time in Grafenwohr (tank gunnery) and Hohenfels (manuvers) and on the border at Camp May (border patrol).

You mentioned Vilseck....the 2d Cavalry has been home based there since 2006.
