Hey man, it's been a long, long time since I've seen you! How are you doing? I see you did well in your career, never would have thought it back in the day! Drop me a line sometime! We'll relive old memories, just curious if you know anything about what happened to Churchhill?

SGM (or did you ever acheive CSM?) Hurst,
After I left FT Polk, I left active-duty and joined the Michigan Army Natl. Guard. I finally got what was one of my greatest wishes and was able to attend PLDC and become an NCO and later attending Ranger School. It truly was what I consider to be my greatest military accomplishment. In 2002 I was diagnosed with a brain tumor (which was in remission until recently). I remarried in 2004 and recently got divorced (again!). Due to the recurrence of my brain tumor, I am not working currently and just trying to get my affairs in order because this time there is nothing that can be done. I just am trying to reconnect with the people that have had a dramatic impact upon my life and let them know how much they do or have meant to me. You took a lot of your time, with a Soldier in a much lower pay grade, to make sure I was "mission ready" while I was going through a tough time in Bosnia. I will NEVER forget that. I always thought that you deserved a Soldier's Medal, because you definitely saved this Soldier's life!
So, how are you liking retirement? Still working as a DA civilian? I hope that all is well with you and yours and continues to be that way in the years to come.

I don't know if you remember me, but you had a TREMENDOUS impact on my life when I knew you in 2/2 and every day thereafter. You were the epitomization of a great NCO and the framework of the type of NCO that I strove to become in all of my time in the Army after serving with you.

2d DRAGOONS

This was the third design of the 2d Cavalry DUI, worn from 1924-1931. The sharp points on the ends of the bottom scroll again called for a redesign.
