This was the third design of the 2d Cavalry DUI, worn from 1924-1931. The sharp points on the ends of the bottom scroll again called for a redesign.

I hope you are well Michael. I noticed that you haven't posted in quite a while.
Thank you Michael,
Can't tell you how much I enjoyed and appreciated that.
Sometimes the truth is so simple we fail to see it.
Once again Michael I want to thank you. Spent sometime this evening reading about Joseph Campbell. Totally the stuff I love and a sort of verification of what I believe. Myth is a powerful avenue to a higher understanding of ourselves and the world we live in. I only wish that all of humankind would attain the divine wisdom and divine knowledge communicated to us by the sages throughout all times and all places. I know that we both hope for a better world. But I'm not sure I would agree with Lipton who thinks it will come naturally - I think we have to work at it. But I could be wrong.
The Hebrew word for "image" in the OT (God created man in his own image . . .) is zelem. Moses Maimonidies, 13th Century Jewish scholar, interpreted zelem as that which makes things what they are. In this case it is our "intellectual perception" that makes us like God.
Looking forward to more of your "Sunday nonsense".
I downloaded one of Lipton's books from Audio Books and will listen to it during my long commute to work. Also looking forward to learning from Campbell.
Michael, Thank you for turning me on to Bruce Lipton - I plan to order one of his books before the day is out.
I have always said that man, like any other species, will have to adapt in order to survive in his/her environment. It seems to me that we will have to change the way we think in order to survive the conditions we have created for ourselves (war, disease, environmental disaster).
Another thing is, that one of the histories that goes unexamined is the history of thinking. If we look at this history, from the Mythological mindset through the age of "reason" up to today's Scientific Mindset, we find the same notion or idea that "truth" exists out there. It is our duty as creative and investigative people to discover these so called truths by scientific inquiry. Just maybe truth does not exist out there- that "truth" is within us. Maybe we are asking the wrong questions.
Strangely enough, the first question in OT is posed by the serpent when he basically asked Eve, "who told you these things . . "
My hope is that Bruce is correct and man will discover, rapidly, the important elements to insure a peaceful, healthy and happy future.
Good Morning Michael from New England where we now have about three feet of snow. Hope all is well with you.
Once again, I want to tell you how much I enjoyed your comment on life (plus and minus).
It's like Yin and Yang - but today's World seems like it's a little out of balance. Are you familiar with the Bagavad Gita? Great story, better lesson.
Went to see the Dali Lama last year - what great experience to hear his wisdom. But I guess I still get a little angry when I see all the injustice in the World. He (the dali Lama) said, in response to a question, "World not crazy, people crazy . . .". They sure are crazy here in Rhode Island. The economy is awful here and everyone seems to be angry. I try to keep the faith but find it's not always easy.
I'm not a fundamentalist Christian and all that as I believe God's divine love and divine wisdom is for all people no matter what. I wish all could experience such enlightenment as it would be a better world. Peace be With You Michael. Bob L
